Icelandair a Top Performer in European Airline Rankings
Posted: July 2nd, 2009

The recent AEA (Association of European Airlines) consumer report placed Icelandair near the top in all key areas. Among the accolades was the confirmation that Icelandair was the only one of the 28 surveyed carriers not to have cancelled a single flight over the winter.

Icelandair, which is Iceland's largest airline and one of the world's longest-serving international air carriers, was found to be the second most punctual European airline on long haul routes and the third most punctual on short and medium haul routes -- an important statistic for an airline that serves so many of its passengers with short stopovers at its hub airport as they fly between Europe and North America.

Passengers will also be relieved to note that Icelandair also managed to snatch the title of sixth best airline in Europe when it comes to the reliability of reuniting passengers with their luggage at the end of their flights. Once again, because so many Icelandair customers take two scheduled flights with the company at any time instead of just one -- this is indeed a statistic the airline can be proud of.

Icelandair is the only travel company which links Europe and North America through Iceland. Icelandair connects 18 of Europe's major cities with seven top destinations in the USA and Canada through Iceland's main hub, Keflavik International Airport -- itself an award winner for passenger service.

Every Icelandair aircraft was recently refurbished and now features personal seat-back entertainment systems for every customer and more comfortable leather seats. Despite the improved quality, Icelandair still regularly comes top on searches for cheap flights to New York and all its other destinations.

Flights to Europe on Icelandair are not much longer in time or distance than the other services that don't offer a pleasant stop in Iceland. The company even allows you to spend a few days in Iceland with no extra airfare if you choose.
